How we check our data
Trip720 shows what a whole trip costs before you book. Here is where each figure comes from and how we check it.
Prices: live or estimate
- Every price is labelled. Live means it came from the provider at the moment shown. Estimate means it comes from recent fares or our checked data.
- During the beta, flight prices are estimates from recent fares, and the trip says so.
- Food, local transport and getting to the airport are estimates with a safety margin included.
- Prices can change until you book. Just before you book an item, Trip720 checks the exact offer with the provider again. If it has changed, you see the new price and your trip total before you decide.
Day-to-day costs in the guides
- From published cost sources, named under each guide, converted at the day’s exchange rate.
When to go
- Temperatures and rainfall are monthly averages from NASA POWER climatology.
- Busy holiday weeks are shown with their dates for the year on the page, from our researched holiday periods.
Visas and entry rules
- From official sources, such as the destination’s immigration website, named on each guide with the date we checked.
- When you build a trip, it checks each traveller’s own passport country. The final decision is always the country’s and the airline’s.
Places, airports and photos
- Places to eat and to visit come from OpenStreetMap. They are checked on Google, so a place Google lists as no longer operating is left out, and opening hours of places to visit are checked too.
- Towns and cities: GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). Airports: OurAirports (public domain). Photos: Wikimedia Commons, with credits.
When data is missing
- A destination whose data is incomplete gets no guide, rather than a guess.
